- It’s all about money and power isn’t it?

News about a politician’s recent scandal echos loudly throughout the train station. A young boy in uniform with his large travel bag stands quietly awaiting the upcoming train. As he walks in the crowded train and dazes off into distance, he thought about his old schools, he has always been transferring schools and moving from place to place because of his parents’ work. Probably as a result of that, he became a detached and empathetic person, not that he remembers being a energetic and caring person ever in his 15 years of life.

The loudspeaker alerted the young boy about his destination, he nonchalantly picks up his bag and gets off the train. 

His new train is somewhat empty so he easily finds a place to sit down and soon the boy dozes off, doesn’t expect to have the strangest dream in his brief sleep. 

“A bizarre looking old man and a young woman sitting in a velvet car welcomed him to the Velvet Room. The old man chuckled at him delightedly and introduced himself as Igor. He then went on to talk about the room but it was so strange the boy couldn’t remember what he exactly said. When asked about himself, the boy unconsciously blurt out his name: Narukami Yuu. The old man smirked lightly upon hearing his name and gave him a fortune telling with some tarot cards appeared out of nowhere. “Future”, “Catastrophe”, “Mystery”, “Contract”, these words are everything Yuu could remember from the old man’s nonsense fortune telling. As Yuu waking up, he heard the woman’s name - Magaret.”  

Yuu feels somewhat startling when he wakes up because of the strange dream. He takes a deep breath and shifts his eyes to the window to find himself in the countryside. He keeps staring at the scenery and pondering at the strange dream. Before he realizes it, the loudspeaker is already telling him that his destination - Yasoinaba station is here. Yuu slowly stands up  and prepares his luggage. He gets off to an empty and old station, a really fitting image of this isolated town. As he goes out of the station and starts looking for his relatives he heard someone’s voice:

- Over here!

Yuu looks to the left of him and sees a man in his thirties waving to him, next to the man is a small girl about 6 years old. Yuu walks over to them and the man greeted him cheerfully:

- Well you are more handsome in person than in your photo. Welcome to Inaba. I’m Dojima Ryutaro. I’ll be looking after you.

Dojima then introduces himself as the boy’s mother’s younger brother, he nods and says politely the way he always does:

- It’s nice to meet you.

Hearing his response makes Dojima laugh, he remembers changing Yuu’s diapers when he was just a baby. Knowing that surprises Yuu a little but in the end it doesn’t really mater does it? He will only stay here for a year anyway. Before Yuu can react to that small bit of information, Dojima pushes the little girl forward and introduces her as his daughter - Nanako.

- …’tefnoon.

She says embarrassingly and hides behind Dojima again. He doesn’t miss the chance and teases her right away which makes her even more embarrassed and hits him. Seeing their playfully and intimate interaction gives Yuu an unselfconscious smile.
